Here in the area for vacation on the weekend. Decided to take a chance on Kpicu since we were in mood for something not American brunch/lunch. The place had just opened up for lunch and there was only one other group in here. We considered walking out since the Chinese way is to not eat in quiet restaurants, but we decided to commit.
The hospitality is so great here. They are so nice and accommodating. I'm not an expert on those type of food but it tasted the good so I'm happy. The recommendations are on point so for newbies like me that's a lifesaver. -

WOW! This is an outstanding new restaurant, tucked away in an anonymous strip mall. Don't let the exterior deter you - this place is the real deal!!
It's a square room, decorated with care and flair. A giant 3 dimensional mural adorns one wall, with broad wood paneling along the back wall. The bar shares the same paneling, with a unique backsplash of artificial turf and displayed wine bottles. Dominoes (the game, not the pizza place) are a distinct design feature - they're in the signage, in the wall hanging artwork and even in the glass vases containing fresh flowers at each table. There are 8 tables in the center, plus 7 booths along the front and side. The same wood paneling is uised to highlight the booths and tables. This is the attention to detail you see at expensive, high-end restaurants; clearly the team here knows their stuff.
Beer and wine are offered, but no liquor. 2 types of in-house created sangria are offered - Guava and Coconut. The Guava is a unique take on traditional red sangria, with a tropical twist. The Coconut is pina colada-like. Both are delicious and worth a try - my favorite is the Guava.
The restaurant bills itself as International Fusion, which is accurate
- with a Latin flair. The menu has a nice array of choices. We opted to share a few of the small plates rather than going for full entrees, picking Tostachos, Chicken Cracklings and Shrimp Kabobs.
The tostachos are pancakes of plantains, fried crunchy and topped with slivers of skirt steak layered with tamarind, teriyaki glaze, a dollop of pico de gallo and a few scallions. A fantastic taste combination - sweet and savory with very tender flavorful steak.
Chicken cracklings are thin chunks of chicken breast deep fried extra crispy and tossed in sweet and sour chili sauce. The chili sauce has just the right amount of heat to stimulate the taste buds, and each piece of chicken yielding a satisfying crunch. Fabulous!
The kabobs are jumbo shrimp and chunks of pineapple, grilled and then glazed with creamy coconut sauce and topped with shredded coconut. The shrimp are cooked perfectly, a nice crunch to each bite, offset by the acidity of the pineapple and creamy sweetness of the coconut. Excellent!
Saved room for dessert, and I'm glad we did. The salted caramel bread pudding is divine! The bread pudding is made with croissant - moist and buttery and drizzled with salted caramel. Rich deliciousness in every bite!
The tab for 2 including 2 glasses of wine is $40. An exceptional value for really good food. I am blown away by the attention to detail and the quality of the food at K-picu and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. HIGHLY recommended. -

Absolutely amazing. So different than everything else in the area. The dishes are colorful, flavorful, and very unique!
Small family restaurant that obviously prides itself on quality and taste.
The tostachos and cracklings are perfect. The burger was way better than any burger you can get around here and for literally $2 more than a nasty carls junior six dollar burger.
The attention to our needs was no less.
A big plus is that you can get a full meal with appetizers and drinks for two and still have plenty of money for gas and a movie.
Can't wait to return to try something else. -

The thing that stood out to me the most about Kpicu was the service! I sat solo at the bar and I had three different people check on me to make sure everything met my expectations. They truly seemed to care about my experience. I had the coconut sangria to start and it was very tasty. Unfortunately, due to a recent hurricane, I wasn't able to order the snapper so I ordered the risotto instead. It is a generous portion and definitely filling. I hope to try the snapper if I'm ever back in the area!

You know, we've all been there when the traditional foods just don't do it for you anymore and you want something different but better. This place has got your back when you want the good stuff.
It was a pleasure as we listened, ate and discovered a bit of there history and how they came to open this gem. I wanted to keep my 200th review for this place when I returned back from Denver.
I ordered the Special Red Snapper and Coconut Rice. The co-owner, wifey of the Chef said I would love it. Incredible favor all coming together with every bite. I took the other half of the whole fish home to eat later.
Everyone ordered the Pina Colada's. Those were excellent! Virgins for now, they will have the hard stuff soon enough. They have only been in Clearwater for four months. It going to be a delight to go back!
